Iran reveals output of renewable power plants

The renewable power plants in Iran output 159 million kilowatt-hours(kWh) in the 4th month of the current Iranian year (June 21 through July 21), Trend reports citing Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA).

According to the report, the renewable energy power plants in Iran generated 5.03 billion kWh of electricity during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through June 20, 2020).

“The loss of electricity at Iran's renewable power plants decreased by 13 million kWh in the fourth month,” the report noted.

Additionally, the loss of electricity at Iran's renewable power plants decreased by 468 million kWh during the 3 months.

According to the report, 45 million cubic meters of natural gas was saved in the fourth month of the current Iranian year because of renewable power plants. While 1.43 billion cubic meters of gas were saved over three months.

“The operation of these power plants saved 35 million liters of water in the fourth month. While 1.1 billion liters of water were saved within three months,” the report added.

The emission of 102,000 tons of greenhouse gases was prevented in the 4th month. Moreover, this figure was 3.41 million tons for three months, according to the report.

“There are currently 831 renewable energy power plants operating in Iran. At the same time, 815 additional power plants are under construction,” the report said.

The private sector has invested 143.5 trillion rials (about $3.41 billion) in the construction of Iran's renewable energy power plants.

According to the report, 45 percent of Iran's renewable energy power plants are solar panels and 34 percent are wind turbine power plants.
