Number of cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 279,501 vehicles in the 1st quarter of 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Business.
In total, from January through March of 2020, 279,501 cars of all types passed registration in Kazakhstan, which is 1,391 cars less than in the same period of 2019.
The share of initially registered vehicles against the total number increased to 7.2 percent (20,018 cars) versus 5.9 percent (16,465 cars) in 2019. The remaining 259,483 cars were re-registered in the first quarter of 2020.
More than 42 percent of the total number of registered cars (118,518) account for old cars (20 years of age or older), which include Volkswagen – 15,611, Audi – 13,941, and Mercedes- Benz - 13,255.
Some 24 percent - 67 488 vehicles, account for 10-20-year-aged cars, among which is Toyota (14,862 cars). Number of registered Russian Lada cars is noticeably lagging behind - 9,633 cars, followed by Lexus - 4,452 cars.
Most of the vehicles registered in March of 2020 account for Almaty province - 42,256 cars, followed by the city of Almaty – 35,491 cars, Turkestan province - 27,174, Shymkent city – 23,924 and capital Nur-Sultan – 21,491 cars.
