Kazakhstan intends to refuse from the OSCE mission as an observer of election processes in the country in the future, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said addressing a meeting with ambassadors accredited to Kazakhstan on Friday.
"Today we observe unilateral approach to the activities of this international organization, which is pressure of some countries on others," Nazarbayev said.
Snap elections to the Majilis of the parliament with voter turnout over 75 per cent were held in Kazakhstan on Jan.15. The results show that Nur Otan People's Democratic Part gained most of votes - 80.99 per cent. Nur Otan is followed by Ak Zhol Democratic party (7.47 per cent) and the Kazakh Communist People's Party (7.19 per cent).
The CIS and the SCO observers assessed the elections as free, open and transparent. The OSCE observers said that the elections in Kazakhstan did not meet the fundamental democratic standards.
Nazarbayev assessed the OSCE observers' criticism against the elections as a mythical and untrue.
"We see that they come with pre-prepared texts, which undermines the OSCE principles. Similar remarks about the OSCE mission can be heard from many CIS countries," Nazarbayev said.
