Aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Russia agreed on direct flights between the new Zhukovsky Airport in Moscow and airports in Kazakh cities of Astana and Almaty, the Kazakh Investment and Development Ministry said Dec. 27.

The Zhukovsky Airport was inaugurated in May 2016.

Earlier, Russia appointed Ural Airlines to Zhukovsky-Astana and Zhukovsky-Almaty routes.

On Dec. 26, the Investment and Development Ministry informed Russia’s aviation authorities that they agree with the appointment.

The agreements between aviation authorities of Russia and Kazakhstan allow carrying out up to 7 flights per week to these destinations by two appointed air carriers.
