Trend:

The Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources has designated competent authority for checking the quality of gasoline, Trend reports, referring to the chairman of the Committee for Environmental Regulation and Control of the MEGNR of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zulfukhar Zholdasov.

Every year Nur-Sultan residents suffer from suffocating smog after the heating season.

"There are three main sources of pollution. The second big source is the thermal power plant. It runs on coal. Today, four boilers have been switched to gas. By the end of 2021, it is planned to increase the number of boilers to 12,” Zholdasov said.

“There are about 160 boiler houses on the territory of the city, which the executive authorities should deal with. There is a problem with motor transport. The quality of gasoline is one of the issues. Due to certain functional changes, there was no competent authority. Today, a defined competent authority will check the quality of gasoline," he said.

There are more than 50 percent of Euro-4, Euro-5 standard cars in the capital, he noted.

"There is a need to increase the number of cars that meet this standard. It is also necessary to monitor cars and improve conditions for technical inspection," Zholdasov added.
