BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. The number of people transported by airlines in Kazakhstan grew from January through September 2022, Trend reports on October 27 via finprom.kz.

This figure amounted to eight million, up by 15.7 percent on annual basis.

In September this year, passenger transportation in the sector amounted to one million people, thus growing by 24.1 percent for the year, but decreasing by 9.8 percent in monthly terms.

The passenger turnover in the first nine months of this year equaled 14.4 billion passenger-kilometers which is an increase of 32.2 percent compared to the same period of last year.

The passenger turnover in September 2022 was 1.9 billion (41.2 percent more year-on-year).

The volume of cargo and luggage carried via air transport from January through September 2022 amounted to 17,300 tons, which is 31.1 percent less than in the same period of last year.

The above volume decreased by 15.9 percent in September this year in annual terms and by 11.7 percent compared to the previous month to 2,100 tons.

In the first nine months of 2022, cargo turnover amounted to 39 million ton-kilometers which is 30 percent less than during the same period of 2021, and in September this year – 4,900 tons (decrease of 9.2 percent on annual basis).

Incomes of airlines in Kazakhstan reached 421.6 billion tenge ($900 million) from January through September 2022, which is 58.7 percent more than during the same period of last year (265.7 billion tenge or $570 million). In monthly dynamics for this year, the largest incomes of airlines were recorded in August of this year, and the smallest - in January.

Most of the incomes accounted for the transportation of passengers: 412.8 billion tenge ($890 million). Another 8.8 billion tenge ($19 million) fell on the transportation of cargo, luggage and cargo luggage. Income from leasing vehicles with a crew amounted to 4.5 billion tenge ($9.7 million).

In September this year, prices for air passenger transport services increased by 20.4 percent in annual terms.

The largest increase in prices was recorded in the Turkestan region (49.3 percent per year), followed by Shymkent (increase by 46 percent) and Aktobe region (increase by 45.9 percent). A notable increase in prices was also recorded in Almaty (45.1 percent) and the East Kazakhstan region (38.8 percent).

Despite such a significant increase in the countrywide prices, in five out of 20 regions, a decrease in the cost of services in the sector was recorded. So, in Pavlodar region, prices lowered by 23.6 percent over the year, in Ulytau region - by 18.7 percent, in Almaty region - by 13.4 percent, in Karaganda region - by 6.7 percent, and in Atyrau region - by 4.2 percent.
