BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. Rail shipments of petroleum coke from Kazakhstan increased by 24.6 percent, reaching 384,100 tons in 2022 against 303,700 tons a year earlier, Trend reports referring to the latest review of the Argus, an independent analytical company.

As noted in the report, the main destination of the export of petroleum coke from Kazakhstan is China, Russia, and Tajikistan, as a year earlier. Furthermore, Kazakhstan also delivered its petroleum coke to Egypt (25,100 tons).

Since the spring of last year, petroleum coke suppliers from the Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery LLP have increased their export shipments of, whereas previously they preferred to supply it to the "UPNK-PV" coke calcination plant for further calcination (thermal treatment of a solid chemical compound).

According to the Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC), in 2021, Kazakhstan exported petroleum coke worth $119 million, becoming the world's 36th largest exporter of petroleum coke. In the same year, petroleum coke was the 32nd most exported product in Kazakhstan.
