BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Japan shows positive dynamics every year, making Japan one of Kazakhstan's largest economic partners, Kazakh Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantyrov said during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to the country Jun Yamada, Trend reports via the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed various matters related to economic cooperation, such as strengthening trade and economic ties, attracting Japanese companies to Kazakhstan to promote joint development in production and energy-efficient technologies, as well as education and tourism development.
According to the minister, in 2022, the volume of trade between the countries amounted to $1.9 billion, which is 71.3 percent higher than in 2021.
In turn, Jun Yamada confirmed the desire of the Japanese authorities to develop close cooperation with Kazakhstan.
“Even though Japan and Kazakhstan are geographically far away from each other, the economic interests of both countries coincide and have a long-term and mutually beneficial character,” he said.
