ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 25. Kazakhstan plans to launch about 170 new industrial projects throughout the country in 2023, Trend reports.
The Ministry of Industry and Innovation Development of Kazakhstan has announced the implementation of 170 new industrial projects throughout the country in 2023. These projects encompass various sectors and include significant enterprises that hold immense importance for both specific regions and the entire industry.
One of the major undertakings scheduled for the third quarter of 2023 is a massive ferrosilicon production facility located near the monocity of Ekibastuz in the Pavlodar region. With an annual production capacity of 240,000 tons, this project is expected to generate export revenues of approximately $460 million and create 800 permanent job opportunities. The venture's total cost is estimated at 92 billion Kazakh tenge ($206.7 million).
Another notable development is the introduction of a new coke plant in the Karaganda region with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons. This move is set to reduce the country's import expenses by 57 billion Kazakh tenge ($128 million) annually and improve fuel quality. The project is valued at 43 billion Kazakh tenge ($96.6 million) and will generate 261 jobs.
Kostanay, known as the country's center for machinery, will play a pivotal role in the production of vital components for commercial freight transport bridges. This endeavor is anticipated to employ up to 300 individuals during its operational phase.
Furthermore, 2023 will witness the initiation of Chevrolet Onix car production in Kostanay, offering two sedan models with engines rated at 90 and 132 horsepower. The annual output is set to reach 30,000 vehicles. The realization of this project will require an investment of 23.4 billion Kazakh tenge ($52.5 million), leading to the creation of 400 new jobs.
Other ventures planned for this year include household appliance manufacturing in Sarny, aluminum radiator production in Almaty, conical towers for wind generators in Karaganda, and the assembly of Jetour, Kia, and SsangYong vehicles in Kostanay. To ensure food security in the country, the production of pasta, milk and dairy products, poultry meat, and more will be expanded.
As a result of these projects, an estimated 13,200 new permanent job positions are expected to be created in 2023, offering a significant boost to Kazakhstan's industrial landscape and economic growth prospects.
