Money transfers from Kyrgyzstan to Russia decline

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 12. The volume of money transfers from Kyrgyzstan to other countries totaled $34.5 million in May 2023, Trend reports.

As the data obtained from the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan show, the remittances flow from the country is 14.3 percent lower than in April of the current year ($40.3 million).

The largest amount of money from Kyrgyzstan was transferred to the CIS countries, namely, to Russia and Kazakhstan. The remittances flow to Russia equaled $32.7 million in May 2023, decreasing 15 percent compared to $38.7 million in April 2023.

The money transfers to Kazakhstan amounted to $300,000, which is 25 percent less than $400,000 in the previous month.

Overall, a total of $224.5 million was transferred to Kyrgyzstan from January through May 2023.

Meanwhile, a total of $1.2 billion was transferred from Kyrgyzstan to other countries in 2022. The remittances to the country amounted to $2.928 billion last year, resulting in a net inflow of $1.727 billion.
