BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 18. Inflation in Kyrgyzstan is forecasted to be in the range of from 10 to 12 percent at the end of 2023, Kubanychbek Bokontaev, the Chairman of the National Bank, said, Trend reports.
According to him, the current forecast takes into account the increase in tariffs for various communal services, as well as the cost of public transportation in Bishkek.
"In 2023, the Central Asian region is expected to experience a higher crop yield compared to the average level of crop yields over the past five years. This will help ease pressure on the rise in prices of food products. The inflationary situation depends on the adoption of new tariffs by state authorities, as well as the dynamics of the som exchange rate against the US dollar," he said.
Bokontaev emphasized that the National Bank constantly assesses the impact of external and internal factors on inflation and implements appropriate monetary and credit policy measures depending on the economic situation.
The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan assessed the 2022 inflation in the country to be 14.7 percent.
