BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 15. A total of $163.5 million was transferred to Kyrgyzstan through remittance systems in June 2023, Trend reports.
According to the country’s National Bank, the inflow nearly halved, dropping by 48.4 year-on-year. Back then, the country received $317.2 million through money transfer systems.
Approximately 91 percent of the funds received in June were from Russia, totaling $148.3 million. This figure decreased by 51 percent compared to the same month last year. From other CIS countries, $500,000 was transferred.
Transfers from distant foreign countries in June amounted to $14.7 million. Just over a third of this sum ($5.1 million) came from individuals in the US, which is a decrease of 15 percent compared to June of the previous year ($12.8 million).
A total of $961.43 million flowed into the country through money transfer systems from January through June 2023, which is a 28.6-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022. In the first six months of the previous year, the volume of individual transfers reached $1.347 billion.
Meanwhile, last year, the overall remittances to the country reached $2.928 billion. With $1.2 billion being transferred from Kyrgyzstan to other countries, the net inflow amounted to $1.727 billion.
