Value of consumer loans issued by Kyrgyzstan's banks increases

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 5. The loan portfolio of the banking sector of Kyrgyzstan amounted to 233 billion soms ($2.6 billion) as of July 31, increasing 14.2 percent compared to the beginning of the year, Trend reports.

The data of the country’s National Bank shows that the major share of loan portfolio fell on loans for trade - 65.3 billion soms ($739.9 million), which is an increase of 16.2 percent.

Breakdown by sectors:

Loans for trade reached 65.3 billion soms ($739.9 million), an increase of 16.2 percent;

Consumer loans stood at 45.1 billion soms ($511 million), an increase of 36.3 percent;

Loans to agriculture amounted to 41.5 billion soms ($470 million), an increase of 12.1 percent;

Mortgage loans accounted for 26.9 billion soms ($304 million), an increase of 10.5 percent;

Other loans amounted to 29.4 billion soms ($333 million), an increase of 9.7 percent;

Loans to the industrial sector totaled 12.6 billion soms ($142 million), a decrease of 7.7 percent;

Loans for construction were at 12.2 billion soms ($138 million), a decrease of 5.5 percent.

In the overall loan portfolio of the banking system, the share of classified loans was 10.6 percent, equivalent to 24.7 billion soms ($279 million), compared to 12.8 percent, or 26.1 billion soms ($295 million), at the end of 2022.
