BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 7. The development and extraction of coal are planned in the Ak-Ulak site near the village of Ming-Kush in the Jumgal district of the Kyrgyzstan’s Naryn region, Kanatbek Ashyrbaev, the Head of the Kyrgyz Komur state-owned enterprise, said, Trend reports.
He noted that they have already obtained a license for coal extraction, prepared a project, and attracted investors. The Kyrgyz-Chinese company won the investment competition, and their engineers are already working on-site.
They plan to bring in equipment and commence operations from September 15 until the end of September. The investors aim to increase the coal extraction volume to 2 million tons.
Furthermore, the investors plan to build an enrichment plant on-site to process the extracted coal and enhance its quality.
According to the country’s State Statistical Committee, the volume of brown coal (lignite) production in Kyrgyzstan from January through July 2023 reached 1.393 million tons.
Moreover, a total of 306,600 tons of black coal were produced in Kyrgyzstan during the period.
