BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. Trade turnover between Tajikistan and China reached $2.6 billion in 2022, which is an increase of almost 40 percent compared to 2021, according to China Customs statistics, Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan Ji Shumin said, Trend reports via Tajik media.
The statement was made following the meeting of the representatives of Tajikistan and China, held in Dushanbe on April 11, where the sides discussed cooperation and plans for further bilateral partnership.
The event was attended by officials from various Tajikistan ministries, including foreign affairs, industry and new technologies, energy and water resources, economic development and trade, education and science, agriculture, and transportation and other Tajik officials.
From the Chinese side were presented the representatives of the National People's Congress of China, as well as officials from the Chinese Embassy in Tajikistan.
"China is the largest source of foreign investment in Tajikistan's economy. Chinese investments accounted for nearly 40 percent of the total foreign investment attracted to Tajikistan from January to September 2022. The two countries are currently implementing a series of important infrastructure projects in the fields of transportation, energy, and industry," the ambassador noted.
