DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 31. The farmers of Tajikistan's Lakhsh region have successfully planted potatoes across 5,392 hectares of land, Chairman of the region, Karomiddin Kholzoda said during a press conference, Trend reports.
According to him, 3,203 hectares of the total area are devoted to agricultural and rural farming, and the remaining space is divided between presidential holdings and individual plots. Over 1,339 hectares of cereals and 214 hectares of vegetables were also grown in the district during that time.
Experts from the Lahsh District Food Safety Center have been hard working to protect the wellbeing of the district's residents by addressing the critical issue of food security. As stated by the chairman, they were successful in seizing and removing 63 kilos of meat, 25 liters of milk, 198 eggs, and 205 kilograms of fruits and vegetables that were found to be unfit or past their expiration date throughout the course of this year's first six months.
In addition, he discussed the industrial initiatives being carried out in the area in front of Tajikistan's 35th Independence Anniversary's great celebration. Kholzoda claims that a total of 124 facilities serving a variety of purposes are expected to be built in the area. 30 of these projects have already been finished and put into use, and the remaining 94 are all working steadily toward completion so that they can all be finished before the historic milestone.
