BISHKEK, Tajikistan, August 5. In celebration of the Industrial Development Decade (2022-2026) aimed at bolstering industrialization in Nurek, entrepreneurs in the city have unveiled plans to construct and commission five new production facilities and workshops, Trend reports.
This was announced during a press conference by the Executive Body of State Power in Nurek.
A facility for creating burned bricks, a workshop for generating pomegranate juice, and another for poultry, flour, and textile items are among the future facilities. The brick plant has already made great headway, with the essential machinery and equipment in place, and operations are scheduled to begin soon.
Nurek now houses 19 industrial firms, providing stable employment for 1,778 people. These enterprises produced goods worth 887.9 million somoni ($81 million) in the first six months of 2023, a significant increase of 137.9 million somoni ($12.5 million) over the same period last year.
Simultaneously, during the press conference, it was stated that in honor of the 35th anniversary of state independence, 180 facilities, including 8 administrative buildings, 8 educational institutions, 6 medical institutions, 5 sports grounds, 20 industrial enterprises, and 131 service and tourist facilities, are planned for Nurek. To date, 42 facilities have been operationalized, with the remainder still under construction or being modernized.
Nurek has three hotels, 29 historical and cultural landmarks, 46 tourist attractions, 186 recreational zones, five restaurants, and several cultural and shopping centers, highlighting the city's tourism potential. The city attracted 65,465 local tourists and 3,202 foreign visitors in the first half of 2023 alone.
