BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. Turkmenistan plans to launch a ring energy system by the end of 2023, Trend reports citing Turkmenportal.
This was stated by the Chairman of the upper house of Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
According to him, the main goal of this large-scale project is to increase the production of electric energy and increase the reliability of energy supply to domestic consumers by connecting the power systems of the city of Ashgabat and the regions into a single energy ring.
Berdimuhamedov said that in October 2021, the Ahal-Balkan high-voltage power transmission line with a length of 421 kilometers was commissioned, which became the first stage of the project to create a unified ring energy system of the country.
Furthermore, he noted that by 2028 it is planned to carry out more than 3,280 kilometers of power transmission lines in all regions of the country and increase the volume of electricity production to 37.5 billion kWh, which is 22.5 percent higher than this year.
