Uzbekistan approves feasibility study on construction of gas turbines at Tashkent TPP

Uzbekistan approved the main technical and economic indicators of the feasibility study for the investment project on construction of two gas turbine units with a capacity of 32 MW at the Tashkent thermal power plant, Trend reports citing Norma information and legal portal.

Uzbekistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on October 25, 2015 agreed to implement the investment project on construction of the Tashkent thermal power station under a loan agreement in the amount of 12 billion Japanese yen ($116 million) at a rate of 0.01 percent per annum for consulting services, and at a six-month LIBOR rate for construction gas turbine with maturity of 40 years, including a 10-year grace period.

The share of Uzbekistan in the project amounted to $12.72 million in the form of customs and tax incentives in connection with the exemption from VAT for goods (services) of Tashkent TPP JSC.

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution dated December 15, 2020 "On measures to implement the investment project on construction of two gas turbines with a capacity of 32 MW at the Tashkent TPP".

The resolution also approved the schedule of repayment of principal, interest and commissions on the JICA loan for consulting services on the project and forecast schedule of repayment of principal, interest and commissions on JICA debt.
