TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 14. Uzbekistan has imported 3.85 million solar panel units from January through October of 2023, Trend reports.
As per data provided by Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee, the recorded figure marks a twentyfold increase compared to the same period last year.
The total expenditure for these solar panels exceeded $4.27 million, which is 23 times more than from January through October of 2022.
Top exporter countries of solar panels to Uzbekistan include the following:
China - 3.79 million units
Hong Kong – 15,500 units
The UAE – 15,100 units
Türkiye – 7,500 units
South Korea – 6,800 units
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan developed a program to install 44.8 MW of solar panels with a capacity of 89.6 million kWh of electricity in all state universities of the republic based on the annual energy demand of the country.
Moreover, Uzbekistan plans to attract $7 billion of private investment to create an additional 9 GW of generating capacity. The total volume of necessary investments in the electric power industry is estimated at $52 billion.
