Iran was invited to sit on the executive council for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons' (OPCW), for a second two-year term, reports Fars news.

Iran is the world's biggest target from chemical weapons and its active role on the executive council is natural said Kazem Gharib Abadi, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the OPCW. Iran's continued membership will give it a chance to follow up on the United States' failure to get rid of its chemical weapons as promised.
