Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei first put his vote into the ballot box at the 110th voting district, IRINN reported.

After putting his vote, country's Supreme Leader answered some questions from the reporters.

Hundreds of foreign reporters are in Iran to cover the Friday parliamentary elections in the country. A total of 80 visas have so far been issued to 53 foreign media from Germany, Austria, Spain, the U.S., Ukraine, Italy, Brazil, Belgium, Turkey, Czech Republic, Russia, France, Japan, Finland, Canada, South Korea, Lebanon and Venezuela.

Khamenei noted that the parliamentary elections are important for the country's security and stability. He added that soon the polling stations will become crowded.

"The elections have always played a determining role in reality of our country," Khamenei told reporters.

"Three decades have passed since the Islamic Revolution, and our people have been walking down the right path, pursing in the same goals."

"One's words must be one's deeds. People's active participation in the elections is good for country's future," Khamenei said.

The Supreme Leader spoke briefly, and in the end wished success to everyone.

Over 3,000 candidates compete in the parliamentary elections. The elections take place in 46,062 polling stations. They are held in 14,307 polling stations by using the mobile ballot boxes.

The election results may be made public in 48 - 72 hours after the election day (from March 2). For the first time, the electronic voting will be widely used in Iran. The electronic voting takes place in the main polling stations of 14 provinces.

About 48 million people have the right to vote in Iran.
