The largest share of visitors arriving in Georgia in February 2022 accounted for Turkey, with 29,606 visitors, Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.
The number of visitors from Turkey in the reporting period of 2022 increased by 85.2 percent, compared to 15,983 people over the same month of 2021. However, the same figure decreased by 53.7 percent, compared to 63,925 visitors in February 2020, and by 51.9 percent, compared to 61,594 people over the same period of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).
Turkey is followed by Russia with 20,876 visitors, which is an increase of 613.7 percent, compared to 2,925 tourists over the same period of 2021. However, the current figure has decreased by 60.1 percent, compared to 52,258 people in February 2020, and by 70 percent, compared to the same period of 2019 (69,675).
The remaining countries (compared to Feb. 2021):
- Armenia– 17,366 visitors (200.2-percent increase);
- Georgia (non-resident) – 15,856 visitors (175.3-percent increase);
- Israel – 8,779 visitors (199-times increase);
- Ukraine – 8,601 visitors (700.8-percent increase);
- Azerbaijan – 7,562 visitors (91.4-percent increase);
- Kazakhstan – 4,121 visitors (830.2-percent increase);
- Belarus– 3,446 visitors (744.6-percent increase);
- Iran – 3,272 visitors (842.9-percent increase).
Meanwhile, the total number of international visitors to Georgia in February 2022 totaled 165,626 people, which is an increase of 293.6 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 (42,075). However, the same figure decreased by 64.5 percent, compared to the reporting period of 2020 (466,409), and by 64.7 percent, compared to February 2019 (469,545).
