Cargo transshipment via Turkish ports from Jan. through Apr. 2020 revealed

Cargo transshipment via Turkish ports stood at 123.4 million tons from January through April 2020, Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend on May 12.

In the reporting period, the volume of cargo transshipped by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to over 9.6 million tons.

“From January through April 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment via Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to over 4.9 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – to over 108.8 million tons,” the ministry said.

Meanwhile, 24.9 million tons of cargo were transited through Turkish ports.

According to the ministry, in April 2020, the volume of cargo transported by ships via Turkish ports amounted to over 28.8 million tons.

Meanwhile, the volume of cargo handled by ships flying the Turkish flag amounted to 2.2 million tons. The volume of cargo transshipment through Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries amounted to 979,880 tons, while the cargo transshipment by ships flying the flags of other countries surpassed 25.6 million tons.

“In April 2020, more than 6.5 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey,” added the ministry.
