The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers adopted a regulation confirming a 2010-2011 action plan on forming e-government in the country, the Communications and IT Ministry reported.
The action plan is aimed to establish "'e-government" in the country and improve method and systems of governance for this end, through the implementation of modern information and communication technologies in the government bodies and organization of e-services, as well as implementation of comprehensive measures to provide a simplified and free access of citizens and organizations for these services.
The Communications and IT Ministry was defined as coordinator body on the action plan.
The 'e-government' project is an integral part of a larger idea of e- states and mainly covers the governmental sector. The formation and development of e-government in Azerbaijan will lead to increased productive activity of state bodies and ensure their transparency and less bureaucracy. Creation of e-government aims to reduce poverty in the country, organize favorable life capabilities for all its citizens and fulfill the paragraphs of the 'State Programme on Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development in Azerbaijan in 2008-2015 '.
