President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov received a member of the British Royal Family, Prince Andrew, Duke of York. The prince stressed that London attaches great importance to strengthening of relations with Turkmenistan, a message from the government of Turkmenistan said.

"Great Britain attaches great importance to the strengthening of traditional friendly relations with dynamically developing Turkmenistan where it sees a prospective and responsible partner," Andrew said.

According to the message, the prince conveyed the greetings of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II to the Turkmen president.

According to the message, Berdimuhamedov stressed during the meeting that the Turkmen-British dialogue has been noticeably intensified and gained a new content.

"Turkmenistan is also aimed at the further development of constructive cooperation with Great Britain built on equitable basis and mutual respect," the president said.

During the meeting the parties emphasised the existence of great prospects for intensifying the bilateral partnership based on the lengthy, considerable experience of effective interaction in various fields.

'Opportunities for cooperation in the fuel and energy sphere also became a subject of the special attention, the message said.

Petrofac, Dragon Oil, Burren Energy, Gaffney, Cline & Associates, De La Rue and a number of other British companies operate in Turkmenistan.

London regards Turkmenistan which enjoys enormous natural gas reserves, as one of the key players in international energy space.

The Turkmen leadership in turn spoke about the prospects for the supply of Turkmenistan's natural gas to the European market including Great Britain and stressed that this corresponds to the country's plans for diversification of export of its energy resources to world markets.

A series of business forums took place in Ashgabat with participation of representatives from Aero Assets Ltd, A.J.W. Aviation, BG Group, BP Exploration Operating Company Limited, Bridgehouse Capital, BSP International Foundations Ltd, Cape Industrial Services Europe Limited, Construction Equipment Association, De La Rue, Eagle Scientific Limited, Eurasia Group, Gomaco International Ltd, HSBC Bank PLC, Over Arup &Partners, Petrofac and Shell International Ltd.
