Egypt to take part in Iran President inauguration ceremony

Head of Egypt interest section in Tehran Khaled Amareh said on Monday that Egypt is eager to improve ties with Iran and that Egyptian delegation will take part in inauguration ceremony of new Iranian president, IRNA reported.

Amareh said that Egypt will send a delegation to take part in the ceremony.

He said Iran and Egypt are two big and influential countries in the region and due to the same reason, new Egyptian government wants to improve ties with Iran.

Iran and Egypt are two big regional powers and there are ample grounds for mutual cooperation. Cooperation and proximity between the two countries is of high importance for the region.

He added that Egyptian Foreign Minister has elaborately talked about establishment of relations with many countries, emphasizing that Egypt tries to expand relations with all countries, including Iran.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Amareh said Egyptian delegation would welcome an invitation by Iran to take part in the ceremony. I congratulated Iranian people and government on the presidential election. Egypt would try to be represented in the ceremony by a delegation.

Asked about arrest of al-Alam TV bureau chief, Amareh said al-Alam TV had not obtained license from Egypt and it was the only reason for the arrest.

Egyptian government would take legal action against all the networks which got no license and that al-Alam is not an exception.

Commenting in the post-Mubarak Egypt, he said the country has got times stronger and influential.

He said Egypt is in verge of renaissance and soft power has increased there.

He noted that Egyptian government wants cooperation of all groups.

On Syria, he said his country favors political solution to resolve the Syrian crisis.

We favor political not military solution for Syria. This has been our stance since the beginning. We do not seek any plot. The plot to divide Shia and Sunni Muslims is our red line. Unfortunately certain parties in the region want to use Syrian events to ignite plot. Egypt supports holding Geneva 2 conference. The Syrian people too have some demands which should be taken into consideration. However, it is a domestic issue and Syrians should decide their own fate. So, Egypt does not wish intervention in internal affairs of Syria.

Meanwhile, he ruled out possibility of civil war in Egypt.
