A solar panels factory being constructed in Sumgait will begin mass production in December, Deputy Head of the State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources in Azerbaijan Jamil Melikov told journalists on Monday.
The Agency is part of the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Ministry.
Work is underway to install equipment at the plant and the plant will begin mass production in December, Melikov said.
The plant will be engaged in the production of solar panels and energy-efficient LED-lamps.
The plant's construction is financed by the private sector and performed by Azguntex. It is supported by the Alternative Energy Sources Agency.
Equipment installed at the factory is produced in Germany. The prices are equal to the cost of products offered by Chinese producers.
The annual production capacity will exceed 100,000 units of photovoltaic modules, with a total capacity of 25 MW, as well as about 1 million units of various energy-saving lamps.
