Turkish Calyk Holding to expand interest in Turkmenistan projects

At a meeting with the head of Calyk Holding Ahmet Chalyk, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed the process of implementation of the projects entrusted to the company in the country, a message from the government of Turkmenistan said.

"Information about the process of construction of an international sea port in the city of Turkmenbashi, enterprises for production of urea and ammonia in Garabogaz in the Balkan province, gas turbine power plants near Ashgabat and in some provinces, emergency centres in the Turkmen capital and the country's regions, as well as other facilities of the health care system and the medical industry," a message from the government of Turkmenistan said.

During the meeting, the holding head expressed the intention of Calyk Holding to continue its fruitful partnership with Turkmenistan.

Berdimuhamedov in turn, said that the long term economic strategy implemented by Turkmenistan is aimed at modernisation of all fields of the national economy, formation of a strong industrial infrastructure and further improvement of the social sphere.

It was earlier reported that a Turkish holding will construct a modern sea port in Turkmenbashi on the Caspian shoreline by 2017. The seaport will also include ship repair and shipbuilding plants. The project's cost is estimated at $2 billion.

Additionally in 2012, Calyk Holding took part in a large five-year project for improvement of Ashgabat's power supply. The project will be implemented in three stages and it is planned to complete the works in 2016.
