BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. Iran’s largest automaker, Iran Khodro Industrial Group (IKCO), has launched the mass production of its first electric bus, the ‘e-Atros’, on November 28, 2023, Trend reports.
The event was attended by Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Abbas Aliabadi, IKCO’s CEO Alimardan Azimi and other officials in Tehran.
The IKCO has the potential to produce 4,000 units of the ‘e-Atros’ electric bus annually. The company plans to produce 600 electric buses by the end of the current Iranian year (March 19, 2024).
The ‘e-Atros’ electric bus can carry 80 passengers and has a range of about 250 km on a single charge. The battery can be fully charged in 3 hours and has a capacity of 350 kilowatt-hours. The electric bus also comes with a 2-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty, a 5-year motor warranty, and an 8-year battery warranty.
The ‘e-Atros’ electric bus was first unveiled by the IKCO in March 2022. The first buyers of the electric bus are the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Iran and Karaj Municipality of Alborz Province.
Iran Khodro Industrial Group is the largest automaker in Iran. The company manufactured approximately 631,000 various vehicles (including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, vans, buses and minibuses, trucks and trailers, etc.) last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2022), representing a 37.7 percent increase compared to the previous year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
