Israel and Azerbaijan eye to expand cooperation in the petrochemical industry. Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan Michael Lotem said in an interview with Trend on the eve of celebration of Independence Day in Israel and on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Israel.

"Because Israel has experience in this sector and Azerbaijan has vast experience. We use it to be a big producer in this sphere," Lotem said.

Regarding the cooperation of Israeli and Azerbaijani companies in oil and gas sector, Lotem said that Azerbaijani Caspian Drilling Company, in cooperation with the Israeli companies, is involved in oil exploration on offshore fields in Israel.

He said Israel buys a considerable share of oil from Azerbaijan, adding that indeed the prospects for cooperation in this regard look very promising.

Touching upon ways of development of economic relations between Israel and Azerbaijan, the ambassador underlined that it happens by various means or methods.

"Sometimes there are delegations that we organize from Azerbaijan to Israel, sometimes we organize delegations from Israel to Azerbaijan. Of course, each such delegation of businessmen, companies meets many companies and that creates conditions for further development," Lotem said.

He expressed that another way of developing relations is the very Israeli way "a friend brings a friend", adding that someone finds it is good to do business here, he brings someone else.

"I find many Israelis that are here not because they read about Azerbaijan, but just because a good friend told him - if you want to do good business, come to Azerbaijan. Of course, the publicity of events is another way to encourage development of relations and Azerbaijan is known in Israel", Lotem concluded.
