The first floating solar panel station has been commissioned at the Mahabad Petrochemical Company in Mahabad county of the West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran), Trend reports citing the Shana news agency.
According to the report, this station can produce 200 kilowatts of electricity per day.
When the second stage of the station is completed, electricity production will reach 500 kilowatts. It is said that the station will be connected to Iran's electricity network in the next few weeks.
"About 80 percent of the equipment of this station was produced domestically in the country. In addition to prevent water evaporation, the plant has increased efficiency by 13-15 percent via cooling," the report said.
According to the report, 8.5 billion rials (about $202,000) was spent on the construction of this station. In the second stage, the station will provide electricity to 400 rural families.
