Iran’s PMO observes increase in load/unload operations at country’s ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 21. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports increased by 3.7 percent in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2022), compared to the same month of the last Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

In total, approximately 12.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of the mentioned volume, 6.92 million tons were loaded and 5.76 million tons were unloaded.

“Some 4.33 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 8th month, which is an increase of 24.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2.31 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and about 2.02 million tons were unloaded. The loaded oil products increased by 9.2 percent and unloaded products by 47.8 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, approximately 1.9 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is a decrease of 30.8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 212,000 tons were loaded and about 1.69 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 751,000 tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 8th month, which is a decrease of 8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 724,000 tons were loaded and 27,200 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, 2.28 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is an increase of 11.1 percent compared to the same month of the last Iranian year. Of this, 2.06 million tons were loaded and about 218,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 8th month, 70,900 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded at Iranian ports. This is an increase of 60.8 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 11,500 tons were loaded and 59,300 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 553,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 8th month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 80.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, about 358,000 tons were loaded and about 195,000 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, 95,400 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 8th month, which is a decrease of 13.9 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 2,580 tons of goods were loaded and 92,800 tons were unloaded.

More than 677,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 8.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Of this, 306,000 tons were loaded and 372,000 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 2.02 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 8th month, which is a decrease of 1.1 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. So, 929,000 tons of container products were loaded and about 1.09 million tons were unloaded.

Moreover, about 5.88 million tons of goods were exported and about 2.77 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 8th month of the current Iranian year.

Also, 167,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 407,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

In the 8th month, 722,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.34 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage, as well as 147,000 tons of cargo were loaded and about 145,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 8th month, 8,950 tons of cargo were loaded and 100,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
