Kazakhstan to boost its renewables partnership with Egyptian companies

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 8. The major Egyptian companies are interested in the implementation of energy projects in Kazakhstan, Trend reports via the press service of the Kazakh Invest National Company.

In Cairo, Egypt, representatives of Kazakh Invest National Company and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Arab Republic of Egypt held a series of negotiations with Egyptian companies.

Kurmangali Amankosov, a foreign representative of Kazakh Invest in Arab states, held talks with Ahmed Zohair, the Director of the Department of GAFI (Agency for Management of Free Economic Zones and Investment) during his visit to Egypt. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two organizations.

Furthermore, the representative of Kazakh Invest also had a number of meetings with leading Egyptian companies such as Orascom Construction, EIPICO, Nasser Trade and Investment Company, BioEnergy, and Egyptra and discussed possible projects in the fields of renewable energy sources, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and waste processing.

For instance, at the meeting with the management of Orascom Construction company, it was revealed that the company is interested in building wind power plants in Kazakhstan, with the first goal being the construction of a series of facilities with a capacity of 250-500 MW.

Additionally, Elsewedy Electric Company, which is the biggest manufacturer of electrical transformers, cables, and other related products in Egypt, has shown its interest in collaborating with Kazakhstan on the construction of solar and wind power plants.
