DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 24. The value of production in the mining industry of Tajikistan amounted to 6.601 billion somoni ($600 million) from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the country's National Statistics Agency reveals that the value of mining production increased by 3.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
In the mining industry, there has been an increase in the production of various goods compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Production of metallic ores increased by 5 percent, while that of other valuable minerals increased by 14.9 percent.
During the reporting period, there was an increase in the extraction of salt by 1.6 times and brown coal by 6.9 percent. However, coal extraction decreased by 17.7 percent, oil by 28.2 percent, and non-metallic materials by 4.8 percent.
Overall, the value of industrial production in Tajikistan increased by 8.2 percent from January through September 2023, reaching a total of 32.281 billion somoni ($2.9 billion) during this reporting period.
The main drivers of this production growth were a 3.6-percent increase in the mining industry, a 12-percent rise in manufacturing, and a 12.5-percent growth in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning sectors.
