Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a letter to his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop successfully, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen government.

The letter has been addressed on the occasion of the Neutrality Day celebrated in Turkmenistan on Dec. 12.

“I am convinced that Ukrainian-Turkmen cooperation will continue to develop successfully on the basis of mutual respect, support for state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and consistent implementation of international commitments,” reads the letter.

The foreign trade turnover between Ukraine and Turkmenistan decreased by 11.8 percent in the first half of 2019 compared to the first half of 2018 and amounted to $43.4 million.

The main export items from Ukraine to Turkmenistan included ferrous metals, parts and spare parts for railway locomotives, pharmaceuticals, sugar and confectionery products, boilers, machinery, equipment, finished grain products, milk and dairy products, poultry eggs, honey, meat and food products, electric machines, various food products, paper and cardboard, seeds and oilseeds.

The main import items by Ukraine from Turkmenistan included fertilizers, mineral fuel, oil and oil processing products, cotton, plastics, polymeric materials and finished textile products.
