European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton held phone talk with Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iranian IRINN state TV reported on Dec.5.
The phone talk was held during Zarif`s official visit to UAE.
Ashton has emphasized P5+1 countries` obligation to fulfill the Geneva deal. She also expressed hope for the talks to move forward towards a solution.
Iran and the six world powers reached a breakthrough deal early on Nov. 24 on Tehran's nuclear programme. The two sides have signed a joint 'plan of action'. The deal signed in Geneva suggests some softening on sanctions against Iran.
The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon, something Iran denies.
The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical research instead.
