Iran attaches priority to neighboring countries in economic cooperation, says Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak-Ayeen.

There are numerous countries and international companies that are keen to engage in economic activities in Iran, Pak-Ayeen has told Trend, adding that however, the Islamic Republic obviously gives priority to its neighbors.

Pak-Ayeen, saying the trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan had reached 523 million euros, noted that the value of Iran's non-oil export to Azerbaijan stands at 350 million euros.

Forecasting that the level of trade turnover between Iran and Azerbaijan will see a significant surge in a year, Pak-Ayeen called for removing obstacles to issuance of visas, as well as difficulties at customs checkpoints on both sides.

Describing the export of agricultural products from Iran to Azerbaijan as important, Pak-Ayeen urged for expansion of bilateral ties in engineering and technical sectors.

He further urged Iranian traders to attend trade exhibitions in Baku aimed at expansion of commercial ties.

Recently, Iranian and Azerbaijani officials have called for expansion of trade ties between the two neighboring countries.
