Iran’s apple export hikes by over 500%

Iran’s apple exports in the current fiscal year, started March 20, has witnessed a significant rise, based on data released by the Islamic Republic’s Customs Administration.

Iran exported 125,453 tons of apples in the first two months of the current fiscal year (March 20 –May 21), 544 percent more year-on-year.

In the meantime, the value of the exported apples hiked by 995 percent to $58 million, according to the report.

Each kilograms of Iran’s apples was sold at $0.45 in the period, meanwhile the price for exported apple was $0.27 per kilogram in the two-month period of the preceding year.

Iran exported apple to 23 countries across the world in the current fiscal year compared to 10 destinations in the first two months of the last fiscal year.

Agricultural and food products accounted for 13 percent of Iran’s total non-oil exports during the last fiscal year, ended March 20.

Iran exported 6.130 million tons of agricultural and food products in the last fiscal year, 5 percent more year-on-year.

The value of the exports reached $5.93 billion, 4 percent more compared to the preceding year.

Pistachios, dairy products, sweets and chocolates, saffron, apples, dates and tomato paste were the main exported products in agriculture and food sector.
