U.S, Georgia discuss military cooperation plans

Implementation of the Georgian-US six point agreement was discussed by Georgian Defence Minister Dmitri Shashkin and deputy director of the directorate of planning, policy and strategy of the U.S. European Command, Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery in Tbilisi, the Georgian Ministry of Defence told Trend on Thursday.

Implementation of the Georgian-US six point agreement was discussed by Georgian Defence Minister Dmitri Shashkin and deputy director of the directorate of planning, policy and strategy of the U.S. European Command, Rear Admiral Mark Montgomery in Tbilisi, the Georgian Ministry of Defence told Trend on Thursday.

The Georgian minister thanked Montgomery for the fruitful cooperation to implement the agreement. He highlighted the visit of a team of experts to Georgia last week.

Both sides have discussed the participation of the Georgian contingent in the NATO ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Shashkin has highlighted Georgia's participation in the operation in Afghanistan. This gives it the opportunity to contribute to the international fight against terrorism and to ensure global security and stability.

The Minister has also stressed Georgia's proposals on the transit of NATO cargo to Afghanistan.
