Foreign visitors spending more money in Georgia

Georgia’s total income from foreign visitors from January through December 2021 amounted to more than $1.2 billion, which is an increase of 129.8 percent, compared to $541.7 million over the same period of 2020, Trend reports via the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

According to the data, the total income in December 2021 amounted to $126.1 million, which is an increase of 13.6 percent, compared to $111 million in November 2021.

The same figure significantly increased by 769.6 percent, compared to December 2020 ($14.5 million).

TOP-8 countries (country groups) with largest amount of money spending in Georgia (Jan. through Dec. 2021):

EU – $170.2 million;

Ukraine – $164.2 million;

Russia – $151.7 million;

Turkey – $121.5 million;

Israel – $118.7 million;

Saudi Arabia – $77 million;

Azerbaijan – $43.4 million;

Armenia – $29.9 million.

Meanwhile, the total number of international visitors to Georgia from January through December 2021 amounted to 1.8 million visitors, which is an increase of 7.7 percent, compared to 1.7 million over the same period of 2020.
