( dpa )- Albanians completed preparations Sunday for celebrations to mark the independence of neighbouring Kosovo due to be announced by the territory's parliament later in the day.
The session was being beamed directly from Kosovo to large screens in several of the main squares in the Albanian capital Tirana, the local ATA news agency reported.
A series of concerts and a fireworks display was planned for the evening in Tirana.
Celebrations were also planned by Albanians making up a quarter of the population of Macedonia, which adjoins Kosovo's southern border.
