Turkish Ministry shares data on cargo turnover of country’s Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. Cargo turnover of Adnan Menderes International Airport in Turkish Izmir city amounted to 44,953 tons in May 2022, which is 57 percent more than in May 2021, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkiye told Trend.

The airport's cargo turnover on local flights amounted to 28,949 tons during this period (an increase of 22 percent compared to May 2021), on international flights - 16,004 tons (an increase of 2 times).

Passenger traffic at the airport amounted to 3.2 million people, which is 78 percent more than in May 2021. At the same time, the passenger traffic on local flights amounted to 2.3 million people (an increase of 45 percent), on international flights - 857,777 people (an increase of 3.9 times).

According to the Ministry, the number of flights performed in May 2022 was 23,854, which is 53 percent more than in May 2021. At the same time, the number of flights performed on local routes amounted to 16,963 (an increase of 25 percent), on international routes - 6,891 (an increase of 2.3 times).

Passenger traffic at all airports in Turkiye amounted to 56.9 million people, and cargo turnover – 1.3 million tons.
