BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. Passenger traffic at Adnan Menderes International Airport in Turkish Izmir city grew in December 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
According to the ministry, this figure amounted to more than 9.8 million people, up by 30 percent on an annual basis.
The airport's passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 5 percent and amounted to 6 million people, while on international flights - by 1.1 times to 3.7 million people.
The airport's cargo turnover increased by 29 percent in December 2022 compared to December 2021 and totaled 140,463 tons. The cargo turnover on local flights amounted to 74,607 tons in December 2022 (an increase of 5 percent compared to December 2021), and on international flights, – 65,856 tons (an increase of 74 times).
Besides, according to the ministry, the total number of flights performed in December 2022 was 69,380, which is 19 percent more than in the same month in 2021. At the same time, the number of domestic flights decreased by 1 percent and amounted to 42,541, while international flights increased by 77 percent and amounted to 26,839.
The overall passenger traffic of all Turkish airports was 181.9 million people, while cargo turnover - 4 million tons.
