Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Jan. 23 /corr. Trend T.Jukov / In accordance with the standards of international law, Uzbekistan and Russia will take measures to prevent any occurrence of nationalism and xenophobia directed toward kindling international dissension or which incite violence against the citizens because of their ethnic originality, the joint communique signed as a result of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Uzbekistan says.
"There was mentioned the need of further strengthening co-operation in combating international terrorism, religious extremism, drug trafficking and other calls and threats of regional and international security. The sides highlighted closeness or coincidence of positions in basic questions of worldwide policy, and also in the situation in the Central-Asian region," the communique says.
"The Presidents expressed concerns over difficult situation which exists in Afghanistan, threats including drug aggression, generated from the territory of this state. The sides stated that in order to return peaceful life to Afghanistan, it is necessary for the world community to provide coordinated aid in strengthening power of the state and law, re-establish Afghan economy, render humanitarian aid to population of this country," the joint communiqué says.
