Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 2 / Trend A.Badalova /
Azerbaijan and Romania have signed a memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector. One of the paragraphs of the memorandum envisages cooperation in the project on delivery of compressed gas from Azerbaijan to Romania through Georgia.
The memorandum was signed after the meeting of Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev and Romanian Deputy Economy, Trade and business Environment Minister and State Secretary for Energy Affairs Tudor Sherban in Baku.
During the energy conference held in Georgia Jan.13, 2010, Romania suggested signing a tripartite memorandum of cooperation for the development of a gas transportation route in the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania direction. The Romanian government considers that this project is of great importance not only for Romania but also for gas supply of the EU. Romania has several alternative proposals to help finance this project, supported by the EU.
