Former U.S. president thanks for establishment of diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan

During his trip to Texas, Azerbaijani Ambassador Elin Suleymanov visited former U.S. President George H. W. Bush’s Office in Houston and presented a Certificate of Honour on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington said on Tuesday.

During his trip to Texas, Azerbaijani Ambassador Elin Suleymanov visited former U.S. President George H. W. Bush's Office in Houston and presented a Certificate of Honour on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the United States, Azerbaijani Embassy in Washington said on Tuesday.

Suleymanov also handed over memorable photos from the meeting between National Leader Heydar Aliyev and former President Bush in 2000.

In turn, George Bush expressed his deep gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for attention, emphasized the strategic importance of Azerbaijan-US relations, and shared his warm impressions from the meeting with Heydar Aliyev.

George H. W. Bush - 41st President of the United States, headed the administration from 1989 to 1993. During his presidency Azerbaijani-US diplomatic relations were established, and it was decided to open the U.S. Embassy in Baku.
