Heydar Aliyev is a personality who made a great contribution to the development of Turkic world and Azerbaijani-Turkish relations, the founder of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, leader of Northern Cyprus Turks Rauf Denktash said at the international symposium "The Turkic world in the 21st century", which was attended by Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva, deputy chairman of the Association of the Azerbaijan Council of Veterans of World War II Mubariz Guliyev, chairman of the Council of Young Writers of Turkic states Akbar Goshaly.
Expressing attitude towards the book and the statements by former diplomat Turgut Er, Rauf Denktash said: "These thoughts do not belong to the people, but the author of the book. Heydar Aliyev was a great statesman who knew the world, international relations and developed his country. I think it's wrong to write erroneous thoughts about him."
Some excerpts from the book "From freedom to tyranny" by Turgut Er, a former Turkish diplomat who worked in Azerbaijan, were published in the Azadliq newspaper.
Describing the ideas and activities of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev to unite the Turkic world, Rauf Denktash said that he was a great statesman who has done great work for the unity of the Turkic world. And now his son, President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the way he started.
