The new head of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia, Andrzej Tyszkiewicz, will arrive in Georgia on July 27. Tyszkiewicz took up his duties on Monday, the mission told Trend.
Tyszkiewicz will attend a meeting to prevent incidents and respond to them. The meeting is to be held in the Dvani village on the border with Tskhinvali region on July 28.
Before arriving in Georgia he will hold several introductory meetings and briefings in Brussels, EUMM reported.
Former head of the EUMM Hansjörg Haber completed his mission in Georgia in late March.
The EUMM mandate has been set until Sept.14 and its extension is included in the competence of the Council of the European Union.
