Turkey will not forget and will not allow forgetting the Khojaly genocide, TRT Haber TV channel quotes Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying.

"Many events on the Khojaly genocide were held in Turkey. Turkey, as always, will support Azerbaijan in this issue," Erdogan said.

Azerbaijani people should know that the brotherly Turkish people will always mourn for the innocent Azerbaijanis murdered in Khojaly. While statements that some of the posters at the rally dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy, allegedly became an indicator of nationalist sentiments, can not cast a shadow on our pain for the Khojaly victims, Erdogan said.

The Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. Some 613 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. Eight families were annihilated, 130 children lost one parent, and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
